  1. Client/Server - I'm curious what your Uni uses that for. I thought it was out of style, but, but I'm out of the Oracle loop. We have a one client that uses some Oracle, but it's probably 2% of my sql work.

    I do web-based (php, python and a bit of java), sql-heavy (SQL Server and MySql) content management, crm, reporting, etc.

    The point I was trying to make about future prospects is that there are so many web-based frameworks, content management tools, crm tools, reporting tools, etc. that I see fewer and fewer projects that require significant new programming. Instead, we use "off the shell" tools and just do some configuration, maybe some coding to tie systems together, and maintenance over time.

    Your experience might be different.

    Anyway, my wife is in academia in the midwest and if she had a good offer back in New England, we'd probably be packing. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  2. Hey Turd, what kind of work do you actually do? Mine is Oracle based client server work.
