even though the word has gotten out over the last few yrs, vermillion slide path or the trees beside it is one of the quickest drives for the best skiing with the quickest access. i don't live there now and you sound keen so i would suggest that. highway 93 south about 2km past heffner creek parking. after you make the big left turn on the highway at the bottom of the hill, look for the opening in the trees on your left. there should be a skin track that will take you up threw the burnt trees beside the slide path. 3200 ft to treeline most often. in stable conditions 4280 off the summit. treeline should give you lots of time to get back and with no approach you basically ski right back to the car. good skiing in the trees if your solo too. heres a vid that starts at the opening in the trees. you can look for this if you go. maybe you already know of this spot.
