I am so sorry for your loss of Tigger, GL. Sounds like you gave her a great life and she will be very missed. Rest in peace.

Thanks. You know, I know we give our dogs the best dogs life they could ever have but I always wonder if they know that. I wonder if they remember the shelter they came from or have any idea what could've been. I know that Hopper did because she was a year and a half and endured some pretty rough abuse before she was shipped up from Georgia the day before she was going to be put down. She was supremely grateful and showed it constantly, that dog had an outrageous amount of love to give.
Ahh, I dunno, I just want to know if their last day/hours/minutes were as comfortable and easy as they could be and if they feel and understand our sorrow as they're fading. I do believe she understood when we laid on the floor with her holding her head in our hands telling her that it was ok to leave, that her work was done, the sigh said so much... Willow is broken, her friend and doggy mentor left her before she was ready but she's 2 and she'll move on. I gotta stop getting rescue dogs I miss my Tigger

Ugh, I feel for you GL. I too firmly believe that they know and understand the love we have for them and how much we will miss them. You see it in their eyes and know that even though they can't say it with words, they get it. I believe they also tell us, through those painful sighs, that its ok for us to let them go as well.
I wish you and yours peace in this awful time.I still call it The Jake.

Sorry GL, Trigger had a great life. Tough stuff these days.
In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

Have seen this before, but came across it again today and thought it worth posting. Don't mean to preach, but I figure anyone who's made their way here is a kindred spirit, and wouldn't mind being reminded that some love and care can help most living beings find their way back to health and happiness.

Who would have thought I’d be crying during the Daily Show… our two rescue labs (and our current foster) got a little extra love last night, that’s for sure.

Supermoon, GL I'm so sorry you guys. Dogs are truly such a blessing.

Joining this misery train.
"Why does he keep laying down?" Just turned into "I'm sorry but his cancer is everywhere and the main tumor ruptured and he's bleeding internally. You need to think about putting him down"
First dog. I bought a f****** house, just so I could get this dog. He has seen me through four jobs, one layoff, five girlfriends, one wife, and one baby.
Like when I was at literally the lowest point in my life, when I had literally no one to lean on, he was my friend, my therapist, my wingman. Turner and Hooch, Huskier and Gus.
He's comfortable, he ate an entire pizza by himself (Lifelong question answered), doggy hospice intake is in a few days
Like you think you're a big man, you think you're hard...until your dog gets sick. I have never cried this hard in my f****** life.

Ahh shit I’m sorry Huskier. Gus looks like a giant furry ball of love. Doing the right thing still sucks sometimes, but he loves you for it.
