    David Sanborn RIP

    David Sanborn just passed a few days ago. Less active in this 21st century, but he was all over music from the 70's through the 90's. He's well known for a lot of things, but two of my favorites are his solo here, starting about 4:25 in...



    And his show Night Music, which ran for a couple of seasons back in the late 80's. There's a terrific collection of vids from that here.

    He was also a frequent guest on Letterman back in the day.

    I was lucky enough to catch DS about twenty years ago in a mid sized theater. As I recall it was just him and bass and drums. So versatile, he could drop into anything and make it sound good, a truly gifted player.
