Excuse me, I'm splitting pedantic hairs here.

I'm getting tripped up on that all Gen Zers were between 0-6 years old when he started making mixtapes at 16, but I will bow out and take this L.

Here is my Gen X perspective on these guys for the uninformed Gen Xer:

Kendrick is a highly talented rapper, but not a much of a musician. Or maybe he's just more interested in rapping than rap music? His tracks are oddly full of annoying sounds. He is genuinely clever over and over again, but I have a hard time listening.

Drake is a Canadian child actor who became a pop singer (who can't sing) who poses as a rapper. He is one of those people that no one over the age of 16 seems to like, but has tens of millions of invisible fans.

Not sure how you could listen to a track like Family Matters (or countless other examples) and say that Drake is only posing as a rapper.

Drake is from the mean streets of Toronto and his real name is Aubrey. Tells you all you need to know.

Well that’s an exaggeration and you likely know it.

And you probably know a lot of hip hop artists get help on their songs - Drake wrote hits for Kanye. Jay-Z wrote hits for Dr Dre. Biggie wrote hits for Puffy.

I’m not saying you have to like Drake or his music. But he can rap well.

You get the difference between hip hop and rap right?

JFC you old guys got me in the music thread explaining the basics and now you’re gonna paint me as a Drake stan LOL

Bennymac, you love Drake, we get it. It’s okay. I mean, it’s not truly okay but you get what I mean. Not gonna say we won’t judge you cuz we will a little bit. But you love him.

    Kendrick VS Drake

    literally laughing out loud.

But yeah as I wrote in my diary last night (in between sobbing) “You Leave Aubrey Alone!!”

I don't get any of this, I know the names but that's it. Maybe I know a few songs since I have a 13 year old daughter, if you played shit for me.

That Mos Def clip if funny AF, though, even though I don't get any of it.

kendrick is a critics pick. you put on his albums once because they’re “interesting” and you want to be informed.

drake you never put on because it’s on other people’s car stereos so in the end end you know every hit. but it’s entertaining enough and eventually familiar as part of the cultural zeitgeist.

    space odyssey vs star wars.

kudos to them for bringing back the rap battle. can xxl or the source be far behind?

IDK what's going on, and IDGAF. But I'm glad there's enough music happening for diss tracks to make a comeback. Hell Yeah
