Can't seem to upload photos from the old app, but today was damned good at the River. Second tracks on Downdraft, several laps on Aurora via skins while Spruce was on hold, and then I was on the first chair when they opened Aurora at 1:40. I hadn't planned on skiing that long today, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Rog died sending Chad's gap switch. Dbl ejected and took one ski up the poop chute knocking his teeth out. It was a sad day, but he died doing all the things he loved.

nice! and glad you were able to pull it off.
i'm assuming you *didn't* have to leave your wife stranded?
    ================================================== ====

no pics but imagine a beautiful drive into the north country punctuated by constant treefalls, downed power lines, stuck 18-wheelers...road closures, detours with road closures of their own and finally a barely cleared workaround was found.

arrived after nearly 4 road hours to continued snowfall and ski-on lifts.

snow was heavy but pretty lightly disturbed given my extra-fashionable lateness. sampled some reserved terrain including a seemingly interminable, hardly tracked run under the gondi.

by 3:30 i took my first break of the day and after giving myself till 3:55 called it, cooked and satisfied.

Best morning of the year for me. Snow was easy to push around and supportive and surfy. They re-opened Sun Bowl and it was deep. It’s a shame we can’t share pics

yup. i was really craving some low angle skiers partially obscured behind some brush last night but the server finally gave rise to an excuse beyond “too good/cold/wet/no partners for pics”.

    sad times.

when the mega jillions hits we should probably build a new forum based around that awesome ski area that’s for sale in BC

Another ‘skis like early season’ storm, fortunately with end of season legs.

Bolton was good last night. And this morning.

    Also can’t upload pics anymore.

One more storm in two weeks? I think so…

If I hadn't caught Stowe perfectly in the middle of that last storm cycle, this would have been the best morning of the year for me too, same place. Crazy that it happened on April 5th...

East Coast Roll Call 23/24_The Guns Are Blowing

    How are folks posting pics?

I’m so glad FD and doremite gave me the Smuggs report from yesterday.

I headed over this AM. First run in Black Hole of the season for me was untracked. Tons of fresh lines in the trees of Docs, Powder Keg, Moonshiner, Plank, and Red Fox to across the liftline.

I could end my season with a smile but expect I’ll head out for some XC tomorrow and might even get in a tour or Sunday morning.

Yesterday we made a family plan to hit Sunapee today because it’s close, and school was cancelled ahead of time so we knew we could ski. The plan was to not rush, because, well, it’s Sunapee. This morning, however, I woke up to a bit of a surprise 5”, so I figured, let’s try to get there for first chair. Long story short, no one else is as motivated as me, so we roll in at the crack of 10:15 (just in time to park in the furthest lot). No worries though, all, because my wife doesn’t like skiing powder, so it’s all good .

Despite missing the best turns of the day in the am, we still had a pretty good time.

Just popped back in here after a few years to say… nice stick/twig/branch stoke. 9.5/10.

Got up to the Cat yesterday… was nice for a couple runs but didn’t take long for the dense snow to pack out. Kudos to all who managed to get out on Thursday!

What's up J, long time? Thanks, it was the only frame I could capture that didn't have him completely obscured.

Long time indeed. Been an interesting season, but managed a few decent storm days
